Our beauty chat with photographer, skinfluencer, writer of “Lolita Says So” Emma Hoareau, who has now launched a new beauty and photographic project “gIRL series: girls in real life.”
Let’s get to know one of the coolest girls out there who can teach you skincare (with beautiful pictures): a Parisian Brit with an eye for beauty.
HELLO, IT’S ME: Emma Hoareau.
LOCATION: London.
WHAT’S ABOUT: Skincare Routine for Glowing skin.
What does it mean for you being a skinfluencer? And how important skincare is for you, also in relation to makeup?
______________
For me, it means helping to spread the word about skin – how to feel good in your own skin, and how to know more about looking after your skin. It’s a constantly evolving topic as science and technology keep getting more interesting. I really could talk about skin all day so I made it my job.
I started out as a journalist, then a blogger – and now we are called “influencers” but I don’t relate to that term so I wanted to put a funny spin on it.
The beauty industry it’s changing and evolving more and more in the last few years with inclusivity, body positivity and eco-friendly products. How would you love to see the beauty industry in the future?
_______________
For me, I think we really need to focus on creating a plastic friendly beauty industry. It’s really hard and I know a lot of brands are already doing amazing things and constantly evolving their packaging as best they can. But it’s the brands that still package one tiny product in layers and layers on unnecessary card and film that really get to me.
My dream for the future of beauty is also for everyone to be so much more educated and know how to look after their skin from a younger age.
What is your favorite mask for a luminous skin?
_______________
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask.
What is your favorite trick to highlight your skin in the right/natural way?
_______________
Use a cream product like RMS Magic Luminizer so it sinks into the skin rather than a powder that sits on top. Also – don’t highlight the end of your nose as it always looks fake, but do focus on cheekbones, inner corner of the eyes and cupids bow.
THE GLAM SQUAD:
– Tata Harper resurfacing mask
– Skinceuticals phloretin cf
– Dermalogica prisma primer
– Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum
– Caudalie premier cru eye cream
THIS IS HOW I ROLL
For my healthy and glowing skin is all about protecting, hydrating and exfoliating. I use the Tata Harper mask once a week, I love it because it’s gentle on the skin but still gives great results thanks to the enzymes it contains. Every day I protect my skin with Vitamin C and SPF 30 (even on cloudy days!) and hydrate at night with Advanced Night Repair. I use eye cream twice – no skimping!
NEVER AGAIN:
Using henna to dye my hair. I didn’t realize you couldn’t do it on sun-bleached hair and I had a green tone to my hair for three years… I was 16.
MY FAVORITE ON-SCREEN BEAUTY LOOK:
Melanie Laurent in “Inglorious Bastards” with a determined red lip and black net headpiece. Such a classic look yet strong and powerful.
