“Lovesick” is brilliant, to say the least, and so is Hannah Britland, who plays Abigail in the series. And once again we have to thank Netflix for, rightfully, keeping the show alive and for allowing everyone to enjoy it!
Here our interview with Hannah, from the importance that music has even for her acting, to her future projects and some fun curiosities.
__________
The first memory that comes to your mind when you think about your acting career?
__________
My strongest memory is getting out of the car on my first ever day on set and not having a clue where to go or what to do. I stood there for about 5 minutes in the trailer park taking it all in and feeling so overwhelmed but so lucky to be there.
__________
Acting and music, how these two worlds intertwine in your everyday life?
__________
I use music to help get into character before I go on stage. I make a playlist for every character, the sort of music they would listen to or a song that represents what they are going through. I listen to the playlist in my dressing room and it helps me focus.
__________
How did you connect with your character Abigail in “Lovesick”?
__________
I find playing Abigail a completely natural experience so I don’t need to think too much about how to connect to her. She’s part of me and I’m part of her.
__________
Do you usually change your way of approaching a new character? For instance Abigail in “Lovesick” and Melissa in “Innocent”?
__________
I approach every script in the same way. I usually spend several weeks creating a back-story for my characters before working through the script and focusing on what they are doing in the story. The backstory I have created helps me understand why my characters act the way they do and it informs how I am going to play them.
__________
What’s next for Hannah?
__________
I am about to start a play at the Jermyn street theatre– a studio space in London’s West End. It’s a beautiful true story about a father and daughter’s relationship and how it was tested during Hurricane Katrina in the US.
