As always, the Haute Couture Fashion Week is a majestic event, capable of turning our wildest fashion dreams into reality. We’ve seen lots of beautiful dresses, ones that seemed straight out of a fairytale or classy with an edgy touch, or even geometric. One thing we can say without hesitation: they were all beautiful.
But what about the faces that wore them?

ZUHAIR MURAD
__________The Zuhair Murad look we love is princess-like, dreamy, straight out of a fairytale, for a self-confident woman.
In Paris this July, that signature look we all love was painfully true to itself, showing us romantic and beautiful dresses and even more beautiful and delicate accessories. A nude look, with soft pinks and tones close to the model’s natural shades, has left all the attention for the beautiful outfits and precious crowns, made of interlaced leaves of diamonds and gold.
How could you not be mesmerised by Sara Sampaio’s eyes, as green as a spring day, with nothing but a subtle shade of highlighter and bronze on the lids?

ELIE SAAB
__________
If you thought that a Saab collection couldn’t possibly get more epic than it already was, think again.
A subtle, metallic finish of silver on the eye and lacquered lips make the difference on a look that’s, otherwise, quite simple. The cheekbones are heavily marked, just like the wild eyebrows, but what really caught all the attention is the golden crown that cuts through the paleness of the models’ foreheads. That’s the Elie Saab runway, right out of the Matter of Britain.

CHANEL
__________
As any other Lagerfeld-style event, the Chanel runway in Paris has us crying in awe and begging for more.
The event has taken place under a custom built Eiffel Tower (were you expecting anything less?) and has shown us incredible beauty. Like one of the models’ eyes, invested by a frenzy of electric coloured eyeshadow signed by no one but Tom Pecheux. Although the colours are mainly dark and cold, with a huge presence of grey and blues, the pure pigments of magenta red, grassy green and yellow balance the look and turns the eyelid into a beautiful, artistic palette.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER
__________
Eyeliner extravaganza for Jean Paul Gautier but, then again, we weren’t expecting anything different.
The path of golden tears runs down the cheeks of the models, whose traits are sharp and chiselled by a bold contouring, and was be matched with an oxblood or nude lipstick. The effect of the melted gold is made even deeper with a dark orange smoky eye, which extends the shape of the eyes and gives it more personality. It’s safe to say that the Gautier’s runaway has shed quite expensive tears, ne c’est pas?

GYUNEL
__________
Geometric lines on the eye corners, brows and nose bridge are, by any means, not the strangest thing we’ve witnessed this Fashion Week, although they’re pretty uncommon nevertheless.
MUA Charlotte Hayward is sending us futuristic messages thanks to the soft colours contrasting with L-shaped lines on the upper part of the models’ faces. All the eye is a game of contrasts, with the rose golden eyeshadow brightening the external corner of the eye and the white lines and bold brows confining every other shape. As for the lips, they are coloured of a cold pink, soft and almost nude, but wth a glossy finish that makes us think of plastic, of futuristic materials.

RODARTE
__________
In Rodarte’s fairytale, the makeup couldn’t but be natural, subtle, and astonishing at the same time. The model’s skin is velvety and fair, touched by neutral colors, with but a splash of bronzer on the cheeks, and nude matte lips.
The one detail that catches all the attention is the point of white on the upper lid: a glimpse of pearl that immediately brightens the eye and connects with the elegant colours of the lily of the valley crown on the girls’ heads.

ULYANA SERGEENKO
__________
The Fifties were the inspiration for the Russian couturier Ulyana Sergeenko, who places her makeup in the experienced hands of Charlotte Tilbury.
This flawless, yet quite portable, look is noticeable for the lips, oxblood and lacquered, and the silvery eyes. The pigments are extremely vivid, with a cold shimmery that’s in line with the classy colours of the collection, and they brighten the upper lid but also define the lower corner of the eyes, making them shine like stars.

VIKTOR & ROLF
__________
Sharp traits, high cheekbones and contoured chin? Why, aren’t they oh so overrated?
Spoiler alert: lips were so swollen, eyes were so bright and lashes were so doll-like that they looked fake.
Really, this is cheating. Those dolls went from pretty to creepy if you’ve ever been so unlucky to see any horror movie involving a doll with an oversized head, but we loved them. Under the Viktor and Rolf’s mascots, was hidden a number of models of every nationality, with any kind of hairstyle and skin tones… And even two boys.
