Stella Jean Beauty: Sporty, Cool and Genuine

The winter Olympic Games of PyeongChang are through, but the time of winter sports is everything but behind us.

Stella Jean’s F/W 2018 collection strikes as one of the most sporty runways of this Milan Fashion Week: in the final day of the Olympic games, that closed in South Korea with a grand closing ceremony, the collection mixes Stella Jean’s famous attention for different cultures with sport.
One of the inspiration was the real-life friendship between African American athlete Jesse Owens and Luz Long, from Germany, at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

The Beauty Look that accompanied the show went perfectly with the sporty and almost “futuristic” mood of the collection, matching with the freedom of movement and the sporty attitudes of the outfits.

The makeup of the woman dressed in this F/W collection, as it was thought by Michele Magnani, is healthy and sporty, with flushed cheeks and a dewy, super hydrated skin.

There are two key points in this look, and they both revolve around skin.

First of all, a three-dimensional highlighting.

The effect is achieved thanks to MAC Cosmetic’s amazing highlighters palette Hyper Real Glow and with a strobe contour cream that, applied on the temple and going down to the cheekbones, gives a three-dimensional radiance. The spotlights of the runway, says Michele, will make the model look like a vision of light walking down the catwalk.
The result is not meant to look fake, though, thanks to the generous use of essential oils that are added to the powders to achieve a sheer and natural finish that unveils the will to keep the skin natural but, at the same time, to freely play with the textures.

Then, there’s hydration.

The skin is glittery with glossy water-based products (like the Waterweight Foundation) and it should look “straight out of the SPA”. Now, imagine something that’s distant from the urban, marble-covered, high-class SPA. Figure a wooden spa in the mountains, after a long day of hiking, with the cold sun and the chilly air turning your cheeks pink.

That’s when the creamy blush becomes a must: Michele mixed two shades, Vintage Rose and Pink Shock, and it conveys perfectly the idea of the sporty, athletic woman, always on the move. The woman imagined for this makeup is active, the adventurer 2.0, as if she’s just finished climbing a mountain – and right on time for the Stella Jean’s show.

And the eyes- well, the eyes keep on wonderfully with this idea of perfect balance between natural and sporty, futuristic textures and wet look.

There’s a glow (slightly watery but not glittery) on the inner corner of the eye, given by a Lip Glass that will be launched in the next months by MAC Cosmetics: Grand Illusion, which will achieve that wet, teary effect that resembles an eye wounded by the cold mountain air.

The eyeshadow (the Pot Paint in Groundwork, to add intensity) is renewed and lightened thanks to a special stick of essential oil dabbed on the lid: a product of the past, extremely comfortable and easy to use, that can give dimension and revitalize a too-classic look, while also protecting the skin from the weather (adding that touch of reality to the makeup that we oh so like).

And, talking about reality…do you remember that thick layer of sunscreen that your mother used to put on your lips during a day on the snow, protecting the tender zones of the face from being cut?
That creamy color that covered your mouth, almost beige and translucent?

That effect precisely, almost winking to the ‘80s and early ’90s, has been recreated thanks to MAC’s Lip Glass, in another color that will be presented shortly: a pearly white with a metallic finish.
