Elen Ellis is one of those girls who always wear impeccable outfits that well represent her versatile personality. Not by chance, the word that best describes her style is “flexible,” and that’s because her mood changes often, making her a source of constant and interesting inspiration.
During our interview, Elen told us a bit about her life and work, from the passion for styling to the most beautiful journeys, up to the trend that she loves the most (a clue? “Like a Virgin”), not only in terms of aesthetics but also of a message. Between a coffee and makeup and hairstyle that reminds us of the ’90s, Elen enchanted us with her spontaneity and her desire to test herself. Have you been conquered by her world yet?

PASSION FOR FASHION AND STYLING
I owe my passion to my mother, who has always been a beauty lover. She comes from a small Piedmontese town, Vercelli, and she was very much ahead of the girls of her age when she traveled she used to buy local fabrics and take them home to make tailored suits. My grandmother then is an incredible seamstress, in my opinion, she could sew couture dresses. She also tried to teach me when I was a child but I am a creative person, I prefer to draw or to do styling.
The passion for styling was born by chance: I studied Fashion Design at the Marangoni Institute, where I won a competition whose prize was a scholarship, but then, in the end, there were problems with the prize and the school decided to gift us with a course of our choice in exchange. I chose styling, which was the most relevant to my path, and at that moment I fell madly in love, I switched from design that is more technical to styling that is more abstract instead.
“I am a creative person, I prefer to draw or to do styling.”
FAVORITE STYLING
For two years I was in charge of La Martina e-commerce and with them, I made a total rebranding. I joined the company when they wanted to renew the brand, and they gave me the opportunity to do whatever I wanted: I chose models that were different from those they would use before and the styling was more free and fun. Another work that I loved was the one with Sontèn, a brand of beachwear – in this case as well, we did a rebranding, we did the campaign, social contents, and the e-commerce, I managed all the production.

STYLE
I’m very versatile, I have too many ideas, even that have nothing in common with each other. Defining a personal style is difficult for me, I don’t have it, today I could be dark while tomorrow romantic, I’m versatile, that’s my style. It is complicated in fact, even for my Instagram because I get tired easily, I need to change, but it is nice at the same time because you can work with many different realities and adapt to them.
Styling for me is very easy because, regardless of the style and by studying the brand and a right strategy, I can get into the heart of its reality even if they are all different from each other. But when it comes to myself, it’s more complicated.
FASHION WEEK
A brand that I truly admire is Fendi. Another one that I really like and with which I work is Blumarine, I like it because the woman stands out; with the collection of September it took a further step because it no longer proposes the image of a simple princess, now the Blumarine woman is also strong, even sporty sometimes. It became contemporary while maintaining its iconic colors and prints.

THREE MUST-HAVES IN YOUR BAG
Lip balm and mascara, that is fundamental because the eye is the part that I prefer and I try to emphasize as much as possible. And then my phone, which is my mobile office.
TRAVEL
I love the United States; I’ve been going to Coachella for two years now, and last year we went to Los Angeles, then to Coachella and finally to Miami. I’m a lover of America, and more than an inspiration, that trip was just a dream. Another crazy and introspective trip was Cappadocia. There you are surrounded by nothing: you wake up in the morning, look out the window and the landscape feels like a picture, and Iceland gave me the same feeling.
I would love to go to Bali, I know it’s a bit inflated but it depends a lot on how you live it in my opinion. I would like to detox from technology and fiction to truly live my spirituality with such a journey.

Trend: The ’90s. These were the years where the emancipation of women became stronger, thanks also to the music (just think about Madonna) and to the TV series, like “Sex and the City,” which for me is not only beautiful, but it expresses the freedom to finally speak about certain subjects as a woman, and as a single woman, because once if you were still single at the age of 30 you weren’t well considered. In those years women began to dress as men in advertising campaigns: it had already happened before, but with the ’90s, and with the advent of modern technology and advertising, emancipation has certainly strengthened.
#Inspo: The ’90s are very versatile, just like me, and they adapt to all tastes. During that period, women could decide how to dress freely, and that’s why I like them so much.
Trendspotting: Madonna.

Favorite Fashion Book: Many years ago my grandmother gave me a book about the evolution of style from ‘700s to nowadays, which was very useful. For what concerns magazines instead, Vogue, always.
Steal Style: Olivia Palermo, not only for fashion, she has natural femininity that is rare, in my opinion, she is a beauty from another time and very kind. You could call her a socialite.
Your Fashion Superpower: I would like to have longer and sunny days because the sun changes my mood. Maybe days of 48 hours, so I could finally sleep for at least 8 of them (laughs).
