Then the new romantic comedy series, “Emily in Paris,” created by Darren Star (creator of SATC) is right for you, and we have good news. You won’t have to wait too long to see and copy all the trendiest fashion items, because the series will premiere on Netflix on October 2nd. The series tells the story of the young Chicago marketing director, Emily (played by Lily Collins), who has always dreamed of spending time in Paris and, thanks to a job opportunity, finally has this long-awaited chance to live in the city of love.
Between unexpected encounters that make your heart beats fast, a career to launch, and new friendships, Emily will have to work her way up to find her place in the world. With its recognizable color correction and chic and fashionable vibes, the trailer of “Emily in Paris” has already anticipated some of the looks we will see in the series: it will take us back in time to Carrie leaving her beloved New York to follow Alexander Petrovsky to Paris.
The similarities and references to the 90s cult series are evident, a series so important that transformed fashion into a real lifestyle. First of all, the choice of costumes which follows that eclectic and daring taste that made Sarah Jessica Parker the icon of the most imitated style ever. But it could not be in any other way: the costumes signature is the one of Patricia Field, the famous and visionary costume designer of “Sex and the City” and also of “The Devil Wears Prada.”

The Tulle
The poster of “Emily in Paris” shows Lily Collins with her back to us with a black tulle bustier dress that immediately makes us think of the teal green dress that Carrie wears in the series finale, right in Paris.
It is also impossible to forget the choice of 5 dollars pink tulle skirt, which became the main symbol of the opening theme as the new metropolitan tutu that everyone, absolutely everyone, wished for at least once in their life.
The Mix & Match
The prints mix and match are one of the musts of the style of the protagonist of “Sex and The City,” who was certainly not afraid to dare: you only have to know how to mix patterns, fabrics, and colors of different palettes for a perfect print on print.
This co-ord with a serpentine skirt and printed blouse (also thanks to the white top) looks something like the coat with starfishes and the black and white midi skirt that Carrie wears in season 4.
The Green Color
Green is not an easy color to wear. Yet, this emerald coat beautifully pops on the screen, catching our attention and reminding us of the combination of dress + shoulder wrap from the first “Sex and the City” film when Carrie and Big go and see the apartment (oops, we meant Heaven) on Fifth Avenue.

If there is one thing that SJP has taught us is that you can wear socks even with high heels and still look fabulous, and Lily Collins seems to have learned her lesson.
The Beret
Is there anything more French than the beret? Maybe not, and, if we talk about Paris, it’s the final touch to make an outfit très chic: Carrie knew it when she welcomed Mr. Big with a look in perfect Parisian style and it could not be missing from “Emily in Paris,” which is all about the city of love!
