Grace Lombardo and David Allen are the heroes of the new GHD campaign.
Ghd has chosen Grace Lombardo, a heroine in real life, as its ambassador for the new limited edition collection created in collaboration with David Allen. Grace, a mother of 3, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 when she was just 35 years old; since then, she has undergone a double mastectomy and reconstruction and, in 2017, she went to the famous Chicago tattoo artist David Allen to give a new face to her scars. David helped her to regain control of her body that cancer had torn. Grace shared her story with Ghd speaking with the voice of many other women who have experienced the tragic occurrence of breast cancer. In the fifteenth anniversary of the Pink Campaign, which has helped raise over $ 15 million for charities and foundations that promote research to fight breast cancer globally, the haircare brand has collaborated with the tattoo artist David Allen and Grace. For almost ten years, David has carried out his mission to help women rediscover their femininity after breast cancer, hiding their scars behind beautiful floral designs, the same stunning pattern that also covers the two versions of the limited edition styler, GHD Gold, and Platinum. In addition to promoting empowerment and helping women regaining confidence over their femininity and body, this year Ghd’s goal is to raise $ 1 million thanks to the new “Ink on pink” collection.

Dior Skin Scanner: A new world of Beauty
Over the last nine years, Dior Science laboratories have perfected a professional diagnostic tool, the Dior Skin Scanner: a technology with over thirty years of research and inspired by diagnostic imaging solutions. Starting from September 2019, this cutting-edge technology will also be used in a number of the Maison’s flagship stores in Asia, France, Spain and England to step up the skincare consultancy game, taking advantage of the latest technology that analyzes the skin on three levels, thanks to a complete facial scan performed from two points of view (frontally and laterally). In order to obtain an irrefutable result, the two points of view combine with the use of three different specialized light sources: natural light, cross-polarized light, and ultraviolet light.
Thus the skin is analyzed on three levels, taking into consideration eight factors: starting from the surface (superficial epidermis), and therefore wrinkles and fine lines, texture, visible pores, and Surface stains. The scanner goes then below the surface (deep epidermis and superficial dermis) with spots that are about to appear and red areas, and then in-depth, capturing the situation below the surface and observing damage caused by UV rays and clogged pores.
The skin scan allows us to observe all skin problems in 8 seconds, while in just 30 minutes the expert skincare of the Maison has the means to elaborate a complete diagnosis of the skin, thanks to the help of a database of over 50,000 images of different types of skin, ensuring precision never-seen-before in addressing the specific needs of the individual.

Lady Gaga: Haus Laboratories Kicks off!
The power of color, of finding your own path and creative expression, has always been an exciting part of Lady Gaga’s persona: an artist that is doubtlessly multi-talented and that today has not only worn the clothes of an icon, songwriter, singer, and actress, but also beauty entrepreneur. Haus Laboratories is the new project signed Gaga, and the brand draws inspiration from Gaga’s early days as an aspiring singer in lower Manhattan, when she would apply drugstore makeup to create what would become her globally-imitated signature look, bold, confident and daring. According to the first indiscretions, Haus will be the first beauty brand available exclusively on Amazon starting in September, with a preview and the possibility of pre-order on Amazon Prime Day (on the 15th of July). Chanel, Haute Couture: Beauty Backstage
The Haute Couture shows are always a stroll in a dreamy world, as well for makeup and fashion enthusiasts.
Elegant girls, a library, luxurious readers caught in between words with an androgyny allure: this is the idea behind the Chanel Haute Couture 2019 beauty looks, as told by Lucia Pica. The sense of androgyny, authority and confidence are given by the intense masculine/feminine eyebrow and the shape, bold but elongated, is created thanks to the use of the Stylo Sourcilis Waterproof, filling them with upwards strokes from the inner part. “I have drawn an eyebrow liner starting from the middle of the eye. I elongated it out straight to the outer corner of the eye.” Explained Lucia Pica, breaking down the tips and steps of the look, “There are graphic elements into the eyebrow and eyeliner.”
Thanks to the contrast with the strong authority vibe in the eyebrow, the skin is like a mirage, soft and translucent with L’eau de Teint, a relatively new product (we broke it down for you in our top-picks for summer foundations), extra-light and innovative, that has found renewed light during this runway. The Palette Essentielle is then used to add coverage and cover only where needed, while a touch of shine is added with the Baume Essentielle on the cheekbones. Dior Skin Haute Couture Backstage
For this runway, Peter Philips, creative director for Dior, has chosen to play with the contrast between a radiant complexion and a deep, alluring smokey eye that was at the same time soft and intense, using all the beauty novelties that the brand presented for the very first time. A modern makeup that may seem, at first glance, simple but that is way more difficult to realize than it looks, powerful and balanced in even the tiniest detail. Protagonist of the look (and of the smokey eye) is the new palette 3 Couleurs tri(o)blique 053 Smoky Canvas, in which the smoke-black has been used all over the lid and on the lower lash line for a weightless-looking black look, and Philips didn’t use mascara, so the look didn’t seem too heavy. The skin, the big contrast, was translucent and natural: a mirror of purity and natural beauty. The complexion was first prepped with the Dior Backstage Face & Body, then a veil of Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation evened the skin without hiding the texture beneath.
A touch of Dior Lip Maximizer enhanced the natural lip so that the absolute protagonist remained the eye and the new launch from the Maison. Four mini-palettes compose the 3 Couleurs tri(o)blique line, with three shades in each: the one used in the Haute Couture Backstage has black and grey in it, but there are coral-to-orange, beige-to-brown and pink-to-fuchsia variations as well. The Valentino’s Born in Roma Ball
Pierpaolo Piccioli, Creative Director of the Maison Valentino, launched Born in Roma, the two new fragrances (declined in two male and female variants) in partnership with L’Oréal Paris, which have been granted a global distributing license. The presentation of the two fragrances was accompanied by an exclusive ball that was held on the night of July 3rd at the Ambassade d’Italie in Paris, after the Haute Couture show for the Valentino Fall/Winter 2019-20 collection.
The unique and elegant location was tailored for the occasion with gold details carved in the precious decorations of the ceilings, opulent chandeliers, floral compositions and antique furnishings that reminded of a palace, thus transmitting the vision of Beauty according to Pierpaolo Piccioli and honoring the two fragrances, the real highlight of the evening.
The details regarding the Born in Roma fragrances remain shrouded in mystery, but we already know that they will represent a break from classical perfumery and will be the bearers of a brand new harmony. Diptyque: Raw Material in Colors
The new Diptyque collection toys with nuances, both in color and in semantic, for a collection of innovative and lively fragrances, a world caught between the palette of the painter and the one of the perfumer. The artist Desmond Knox-Leet, painter and co-founder of the Maison, imagines the fragrances and spontaneously associates a rainbow of spices, aromas, dried flowers and other fragrant wonders to them, in the same fashion he’s used to put colors to canvas. Two similar gestures that come from the same aspiration: to create, to compose, united in a never-ending cycle. For his summer collection, Diptyque plays on the synesthetic concept according to which an artist often “feels” a color, also in the form of a particular fragrance or smell, and vice versa. Thus the collection plays on associating specific colors to five iconic fragrances of the Maison: Do Son, Eau des Sens, the Ombre Dans l’Eau, Philosykos, and Tam Dao. First, Diptyque pinpoints the color that best matched the exalted raw material in each of the five compositions, using it a starting point to compose a color palette that recalls the spirit of the fragrance.
“For Do Son, a teal green evokes the spicy freshness of the tuberose, for Eau des Sens, a golden yellow light as bright as the orange blossom, while a lively pink tint recalls the fruity and acid pink of the Ombre dans l’Eau.
