Indie Beauty Expo Los Angeles 2019
The first of five dates, the Expo dedicated to Indie and up-and-coming beauty brands is going to be hosted in LA between the 23rd and 24th of January, moving next to important capitals worldwide such as Berlin and New York. A double event both for customers and industry set to present (and shop) new Indie and exciting beauty brands.
The line-up is available online with a vast selection of names and, after the massive importance that indie and vegan brands have shown throughout the past year in shaping the industry, we are sure that this new exhibition will be the perfect opportunity to discover the brands that will make the indie-phenomenon grow even more in 2019.
Naomi Campbell for NARS Cosmetics
For the first half of 2019, supermodel and fashion icon Naomi Campbell is going to be the face for Nars Cosmetics – specifically for the Radiance Repowered range and the Orgasm campaign. An opportunity that Campbell says “honors” her since Nars is like family for the supermodel.
A feeling that is clearly shared by François Nars himself, who declared, “She and I are like family. I have known her since the very beginning of her career. From the start, I have admired her, her beauty, and her style.”
We can see the first shots of what is the very first campaign that sees the beautiful model as the face of a brand (incredible to say, Campbell has never been the protagonist of any beauty campaign before) and we can’t wait to see more in 2019; but, for now, let’s enjoy the beautiful pictures, taken by Nars and with James Kaliardos as the makeup artist for the campaign.
Natalie Portman for Dior Forever
In this new series starring Natalie Portman, the real protagonists not only of the spot but also of every woman’s lifestyle are all the different shades of foundation, suitable for any needs and habits. For this series of ads, Dior wanted to reinvent the way we usually talk about foundation, showing it as a central and delicate part of the body, which deserves all of our care and attention.
“With this range of shades, women can either enhance or correct their complexion color by playing with the undertones,” says Peter Philips in his YouTube interview, also commenting that there are new active ingredients in the formula enhancing the skincare properties of the product. A new way to play with makeup because, as Philips wisely says, “Today’s makeup is not only about concealing, is also about enhancing.”
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop comes to London [and Europe]
Save the date for June 2019, because it’s when Gwyneth Paltrow and Elise Loehnen (Goop’s chief content officer) will be in London for a series of panel and events, exploring Paltrow’s Goop way-of-thinking with masterclasses, self-caring panels, and beauty dedicated stands. Loehnen has told Vogue that the event will have a great fan of opportunities and different inputs, with something to offer to everyone: the key is to learn to love yourself and to enhance your wellness, so the summit will space between charged water, beauty treatments, and positive-thinking classes. Goop had already opened a store in September, receiving a warm welcome, but the summer event sounds like a real must-go opportunity to get a glimpse of a different way of taking care of our beauty.

Fenty Beauty – New Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick
After expanding the liquid lip tint’s family with new exciting shades, Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty has also enlarged the number of nuances available with the creamy Mattemoiselle Plush Matte lipsticks (currently counting 14 nuances), adding ten more.
From the 26th of December, ten new super-pigmented shades are available worldwide. The colors are (as always) bold and popping, with a color for every taste and skin tone: among them we can count Fury (eggplant), Flamingo Acid (magenta), the neon pink Dragon Mami, F’N Black, Turks and Caicos (a brave green), and Tiger Tini (the orange-y red Riri was flaunting in the promo pic on Insta).
Pro Filt’r Concealer and Setting Powder
“We got #THECURE to your NewYear’s Eve hangover!” was the headline for the video that Fenty Beauty posted on New Year’s day, hinting a new big release from the cosmetic brand. The video went on, saying, “On January 11, we’re dropping 50 brand new shades of creamy, crease-proof, and long-wearing #PROFILTRCONCEALER!”
Now, we all remember when in 2017 Fenty dropped in the marked 40 shades of foundation, breaking havoc and opening a much broader discourse about inclusion in the industry, and now it’s finally releasing an equally huge range of concealers to match, but not only! The brand has recently announced that its’ going to release eight shades of Pro Filt’r loose setting powder as well: a soft and translucent powder to smooth and mattify your makeup.
Yves Saint-Laurent Heart & Arrow Collection
Valentine’s Day means heart-shaped goodies, chocolate, red and a lot, lot, lot of love in the air. Yves Saint Laurent knows that, and for the very special day has thought of a themed mini-collection of the highlighter Touche Éclat and the lipstick Rouge Volupté, embellished with hearts and a luxury gold packaging.
For the creamy lipstick (one of the brand’s best seller, now in this new and romantic packaging) there will be five nuances available, ranging from the nude dusty rose to coral and fuchsia shades. The arrowed hearts in the packaging will present the same color of the shade inside. As for the bestselling highlighter Touche Éclat, it will be available in three different shades, meeting everyone’s need and complexion for a Valentine’s Day to remember!
Lush Vegan Lipstick
Forty new shades of lipstick enter the family of Lush vegan and freshly prepared makeup, opening the doors to a new way of considering lip makeup apart from the usual disposable bullet lipstick. The vegan brand, in fact, has created this remarkable range of lipstick in two versions: one in recyclable plastic and one “naked,” to reuse the empty packaging of a previous lipstick. As always, one of the ideas and hope is to dramatically decrease the non-recyclable number of plastic waste produced by the industry.
The lipstick is enriched with moisturizing jojoba oil and generated with vegan alternatives to bee’s wax, such as sunflower seeds and Damask Rose’s wax.
LoliGlow by Dior
A new, charming collection full or bubbly colors is going to shake the market at the end of Winter: Dior’s LoliGlow is a merry go round of pinks, oranges, and yellows. A lively collection composed by bicolor candy-looking lipsticks enriched with mango oil, Dior Ombrè lipsticks, lip maximizers with hyaluronic acid, a range of shimmery nail polishes in popping colors, two pastel eyeliners and a powdery blush in cold pink.
All the products in this collection present pastel and lively shades (the eyeliners are pastel pink, green and blue) and both the Lip Glow Dior lipsticks and the palettes present a characteristic spiral pattern that makes them look like candies. Although we know that this collection will be available in Asia in early 2019 (being released between January and February), the release date for Europe is going to be later in the year.
Stila Little White Lies
Gleaming with hidden crystals, the pearly-looking collection by Stila looks heavenly white and angelic…but. There’s a but, a trick — another story hidden just underneath the first swatch: a tale of colors that are equally heavenly, but far from white. At first glance, the formula of the new shades of the no-transfer hero eyeshadow, which became one of the trademarks of Stila, contains luminescent pearls that appear white (hence the white look of the entire collection which, when you look at it, might seem a little bit disappointing and monochrome), but each pearl has a colored fluorescent core. When blended, the product releases its true pigment and shimmery color, either yellow, pink, blue or green. If you want to have a little trickster for an eyeshadow, something that leaves you open-mouthed, this is definitely it.
The collection comes with a trio of highlighters as well: a beautiful palette with gleamy blue, icy pink and golden highlighters, hyper-pigmented and with a comfortable, long-lasting powdery formula.
Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Cleansing Ritual Duo
London makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury is well known for delivering miraculous skincare and makeup, and this Spa-in-a-jar duo makes no exception! A hydrating cleansing duo in two steps, one in a bright yellow (Ritual 1) packaging and the other in black (Ritual 2), that includes a coconut oil-based, Inca Inchi Oil, glow-boosting citrus oil cleanser and a deeply-purifying bamboo charcoal cleanser with Vitamin B3. An innovative and easy-to-use product for those days when you really need a SPA moment for yourself and your skin, a dramatically health-boosting regime that helps to draw out impurities and will make our skin feel glowy, plump and visibly improved.
The duo also comes with a luxury muslin cloth to remove the product and to reveal the glow.
Tom Ford White Suede Collection
A soft and compelling collection of fragrances and makeup to capture the essence of Musk, an ingredient that is often misunderstood in perfumes and fragrances: perfume-wise, the Maison released three scents because, as Tom Ford declared, “one fragrance couldn’t possibly capture all the shades of this ingredient.” White Suede, enriched with Bulgarian rose and yellow saffron, is the first fragrance of the collection, followed by Jasmine Musk (fresh and fruity with two kinds of musk and Iris notes). Pure Musk is the third fragrance of the line, mixing with bergamot and Italian citrus notes with the soft heart of pure white musk. The collection is completed by a lipstick line, with three lip colors inspired by the fragrances and musk, and a 4-eyeshadows palette enriched with the soft scent of musk and highly-pigmented shades.
Smashbox LA-Inspired Collection
January is going to be an exciting month for Smashbox, since the brand is going to release a whole lot of new makeup products, from lip glosses to eye makeup.
The Gloss Angeles lip glosses line is composed of 14 non-sticky, moisturizing and super shiny lip glosses, which will make your lips look fuller with a color inspired by sunny California. Staying in LA, Smashbox matches to the glosses the LA Cover Shot Palette, a revolutionary palette with 16 shades to cover all the vibes of the four must-visit hotspots of the city, from Venice Beach to Downtown. Versatile thanks to the range of shades going from nude to neon pink all the way up to duo chrome peachy hues, and to the matte and shimmer finishes, this palette completes a collection that bottles up the bubbly spirit of Los Angeles.
