Are you ready? Euphoria has come to an end and we are speechless in front of all the wonderful makeup looks that Doniella Davy, the official makeup artist of the series, has created in this second season. If the first season featured more colorful, eccentric and glam looks (enough to influence an entire generation that began to dress and emulate the makeup looks of our favorite series, all over the world) this season is characterized by softer and less sparkling tones. If you expect again a blaze of glitter, sequins, and well… euphoria (there’s no word more accurate than this), we regret to disappoint you, but the profile is a little “lower” in the choice of makeup this time, but it certainly does not go unnoticed, and it never could.
“Season two is like season one’s more introverted sister,” wrote Doniella Davy on Instagram […] “She has her full glam moments but then switches to super minimalism.” There still is some sparkle, don’t worry, but the course of the story prefers a softer version of the usual shimmering “Euphoria.”
The news about “Euphoria” and everything related to it is not over: Donni Davy will soon launch “Half Magic,” her first make-up brand! You can’t wait, huh?! There are still no clues on which products will be part of the brand for now, but from the website that is already online, we can perfectly understand that it will be an innovative cosmetic line embodying the emotional glam that has characterized the series. The brand, born with the support of A24, the production company behind “Euphoria,” is however not the official collection of the series: “Makeup transcends the TV series. In its own way, it has become a separate entity […] we don’t want to be just an accessory to the show, because at some point the series will end.” In fact, the brand is suggested as universal, even for those who have not seen the series and are not fans, but who are still fans of sequins and colors.
So here’s a list of the best makeup looks of the series, in a new, more refined, and perhaps more subtle way, made of natural foundation bases, bright and delicate nuances, without sacrificing the decisive shades of which Maddy, once again, is the supreme queen.
Jules 2.0 – Euphoria Season 2 Makeup
Jules’ look in season 2 is perfectly opposed to the Jules we know: the one of the first season wearing pastel colors, bright shades, girly and Y2k looks. A colorful and magnetic Sailor Moon. Let’s take Jules from where we left her, after her special episode, during which she reveals her anxieties, fantasies, and interpretations of her relationships with Rue and Tyler as she faces her first session with the new therapist and questions her own femininity, admitting she is uncertain about her transition (“It’s like my whole life I’m trying to conquer femininity, and now I feel like, at some point along my path, femininity has taken over me”).
And then, let’s look at her new appearance in the first episode of season 2, during the NYE party: short hair, a bolder look and makeup, less feminine, as if she’s the symbol of the darkest mood of the new season. You only need 3 products to create it: a silver eye shadow, a black eye-liner, and the evergreen black mascara. We chose the Sequin Crush Mono Glitter Shot Eyeshadow by Yves Saint Laurent, the Nabla Waterproof Serial Liner, and the Smashbox Super Fan Mascara, ultra-dark and extra long.
Turquoise & Lime – Euphoria Season 2 Makeup
Kat is also not immune to the changes that affect almost all “Euphoria”’s characters in terms of makeup and we can see it clearly with the look she shows off during the first episode of the second season. Her character seems to abandon, at least for now, that dolled-up bondage girl style that has characterized her so far (in the first season Kat’s makeup becomes more and more daring as her self-confidence grows) in favor of a new fresh and playful style.
A choice that reflects the journey she has to make to find her true identity, and that she is going through. “‘Cause if it seems like a long time since we last saw Kat in season one, it’s only been a semester since her character started experimenting with her look and consequently using it to figure out who she wants to be”.
For this ’80s-inspired eyeshadow look, Donni Davy reveals the exact palette that was used for the makeup, and it is the Super Inspiring Color Palette by Heidi Bivens. For the ‘90s inspired lips, you just need a pencil to outline the lips combined with lipstick (always in nude tones) and a touch of gloss to add at the end to shine it up. We like the combo Iconic Nude + K.I.S.S.I.N.G – Runway Royalty by Charlotte Tilbury as a base and, as a gloss, the Well Pumper Lips by WeMakeup, to donate an extra plumping!
F**ed up Cassie – Euphoria Season 2 Makeup
“If this isn’t the most simultaneously endearing, adorable and f*ed up Cassie, I don’t know what is”.
And if Donni Davy says so, we can only agree with her.
The goal of this makeup was obviously to make Cassie look like Maddy as much as possible, making public the character’s maniacal escalation and the obsession she has developed for Nate, showing the extent to which she would push herself to attract his attention. The look had to “pop out”!
Initially, Donni’s idea was to create a “tone on tone” baby blue look, but later the choice fell on white for a high-impact look without the use of any color, which in this case ends up underlining the irony of the situation: think about how white is considered a pure and innocent color and Cassie is not. So… white eye-liner? Don’t worry: one of our favorites is definitely the Glisten Cosmetics’ eye-liner, which is easy to use, super inky (which in this case is very important, as for all pastel colors), and it can be removed even with water, so it is very easy to correct.
’60s Mod “Oklahoma” Look – Euphoria Season 2 Makeup
Pastel colors, double-winged eyeliner, and exaggerated eyelashes for an ethereal and soft 60’s energy (which also looks a little country). In this chaos, between ups and downs and emotional “flights,” Cassie seems to do everything to get noticed and be at the center of the scene. And she does so by showing off a retro look, a sweet and slightly babydoll aura with Dolly Parton vibes that, from sweet and inspirational Y2k, quickly turns into the character’s exasperation: “I love how her meltdown erupts and like burns through this look, morphing it from soft delicate babydoll to something a bit more deranged,” says Davy. So, to recreate the look, just find some false eyelashes (like the famous Huda Beauty eyelashes), the must-have black eyeliner, and a shimmery blue eye shadow like Air in the Cutie Palette by Nabla.
B*tch You Better Be Joking – Euphoria Season 2 Makeup
Double-winged eyeliners in Maddy’s look are – as Donni Davy explains – intentionally opposite and simultaneous to those of Cassie. But, in one scene in particular, Maddy makes us understand that “Nothing beats the original.” In this second season, Maddy’s looks become more essential, black eyeliners and cat-eyes triumph mirroring her complex character, but when they get less “sharp,” they also show us the sweetest and most insecure sides of her character.
Twiggy Vibes – Euphoria Season 2 Makeup
This season, Lexi finally “comes out of her shell:” she is ready to make her voice heard and claims to be heard; finally she puts herself at the center of the narrative. As a result, even makeup – as we are used to seeing in “Euphoria” – accompanies her evolution. For Maddy’s b-day, Lexi shows off a particular look, inspired by Twiggy, with another type of wing, turned down + a mixture of dots and lines on the lower lashes. “Instead of fake lashes on her own lash line, it felt more Lexi-like for her to have drawn on her own unique version of something reminiscent of fake lashes. I love how this makes the look feel slightly less glam”.
A lilac/rosé eye shadow and a plum eyeliner were chosen: in the Colour Book Eyeshadow Palette of Makeup Revolution, you can find a wide range of pink, purple, and lilac that allow you to vary the eye shadow, according to your preferences. For the eye-shadow liner, the color more similar to the one in the picture seems the Lavander of the Venus Liquid Liner Eyeliner by Lime Crime!
When Pink Eye Is Glam – Euphoria Season 2 Makeup
The sibling to Cassie’s NYE look.
“When I spoke to Sam [Levinson] about his vision for Sydney, he wanted a lot of her looks to feel really anxious: that meant wet-looking, dewy skin; flushed cheeks, and pinky blush tones on the eye.”
Davy and Levinson’s vision for Cassie pops up in episode four, where her anxiety and stress are emphasized through the metallic shimmery pink makeup. The shade is not baby pink: it’s not sweet or pretty, but it’s full of sunset colors. The perfect eyeshadow? The Water Eyeshadow in the Flamingo Pink color by Kiko Milano. Match it with small sparkling gems, some mascara, and you’re done!
Shades of Blue – Euphoria Season 2 Makeup
In this season, Kat uses in various looks different shades of blue and in the picture above (after Maddy’s birthday party), the Twiggy inspiration on the lower lashes reappears.
“This look was shown off the day after Maddy’s b-day party, so it made sense for me to use the same blue color I used the night before (I imagined that Kat and Maddy had slept at Howard’s house after the party)”.
We found the most similar colors to those used by Donni Davy, already in the eye-liner form, so it will be easier for you: the two shades are Blue Sky (a light blue shade) and The Royals (where the color is cobalt with a cold undertone) of Split Liner by Glisten Cosmetics.
Snake Vibes – Euphoria Season 2 Makeup
As for Jules’ makeup at Lexi’s show, Donni Davy posted the actress’s photo with the snake emoticon as a caption. And in fact, this look gives us impressive snakey vibes.
How do you recreate it? Finding green metallic eye-liners on the market is not always easy, so note down this tip that could be helpful anytime you want to put on eyeliner, but you don’t have the color you are looking for! All you need is Inglot’s Duraline and eyeshadow: in this case, the most similar color to Jules’ is Collistar’s Verde Capri Frost Impeccable Compact Eye Shadow Refill. First moisten a brush with Duraline, later the eye shadow and voilà: it will turn into a kind of liquid eye shadow and you can also use it for precision lines like this.
Caddy Makeup Moment – Season 2 Euphoria Makeup
Pink is now one of Cassie’s identifying colors. Just like the small gems. “Euphoria” amazes us again and again with these soft glam pink looks worthy of the new Cassie. A Cassie who’s not completely Maddy, but not completely Cassie. What is different from the other looks is the lipstick, which comes in a bright coral color (like The Mini Lipstick / Little M A C – in the Tropic Tonic shade by MAC).
Lexi’s Metamorphosis – Season 2 Euphoria Makeup
Lexi’s makeup becomes bolder and bolder with time: she dares more and more with shapes and lines. The makeup shown off in episode 7 makes us understand her personal growth (while also enclosing the concept in a few elements): the key products are always, as for the first of Jules’s makeup looks, a silver shimmery eye shadow, and a black eye-liner. The wings this time are not just two, but four, giving the makeup an irresistibly dramatic touch.
