“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”
That’s what poet William B. Yeats said, and we could not agree more: in a world that seems to oppress us every day more, and that pushes us to materialism, it is more crucial than ever to remember the importance of magic, seen as the ability to dream, to amaze, to admire beauty, to get excited and to believe that everything is still possible.
To enclose and emphasize this message is the FW 21/22 collection of futuroRemoto, an Italian jewelry brand where the artisan production of high jewelry meets avant-garde design, creating new shapes and bold combinations. The collection is entitled “The Dreamers’ Room,” and it is made of fifteen silver and gold pieces designed in 3D and handmade with the technique of micro casting; it is a meeting point between history and contemporary art, symbolism, and universality. Once again, the designer Gianni De Benedittis shows us through his creations that enchantment is possible even nowadays and, with these pieces, he reminds us that jewels are also amulets representing what we need and pushing us to do more to obtain it.
Among the pieces that underline the importance of the dreamlike and evocative sphere, we find the pentacle pendant, an ancient sacred symbol of strength and beauty, the two-tailed milk mermaid that, according to legend, converts its milk into gold, the two frontal lions to protect the world, the wheel of fortune with the zodiacal signs, and the phoenix, which rules fate and transformation. Through these and other figures, the designer dialogues with the human being creating a memento of the most intimate, fragile, and magical beauty.
To celebrate “The Dreamers’ Room” collection of futuroRemoto is the fashion film made by Stefania Rocca (on her directorial debut for a fashion project), starring actress Serra Yilmaz and Gabriele Greco. The director took inspiration from the jewels of Gianni De Benedittis and the emotional strength of Serra Yilmaz to give life to this “journey,” both inner and not, in the rooms of dreams, looking in the depths of memory for those symbols that, both consciously and unconsciously, make us who we are and shape our daily life. There is no nostalgia, there is no time, there is only the dream in its purity, which erases the border between real and unreal, enclosing the beauty of magic in an eternal moment, just like the jewels of futuroRemoto.
