Game of Thrones is already about to end (too soon!) and rumour has it that we’re doomed to wait two years before the new, final season. Season 8 will be the last and we can’t wait to see how the battle of the major HBO success is going to end. Who will sit on the Iron Throne? Who will reign -and for how long, eventually, before a new Winter strikes again?
We’ll have to wait and see, as they say.
What we already saw was the great influence that the show had upon the fashion world. Recently, Elie Saab declared of being a huge fan of the series and, well, we did notice that.
In this season we said goodbye to the beautiful, luxurious gowns of the previous ones. Even in King’s Landing the court has darkened, deprived of its young princesses and queens, ruled by a Cersei that turns more and more ruthless. After all, the Seven Kingdoms are prepared for war: now each dress looks like a very fashionable, yet lethal, armour.
Of course, it was impossible for designers to predict how the style would have changed in the series, especially since this season is quite different from the previous ones in terms of fashion, but it’s always funny to notice how the show has influenced the recent Haute Couture catwalks.
The great women of power left playing the game are four.
Let’s see how their dresses have changed this season and how their style has inspired Westeros… ops, the fashion world!

CERSEI LANNISTER
__________
High collar, sharp lines and grey colors.
Cersei, the ruling queen: we remembered her dressed in the signature red and gold. Now she turned to black and grey, with shoulders highlighted by details sharp iron. She stills fancies golden embroideries, but the bright red velvet and the shining gold of the previous season are just a memory.
Her long blonde locks, vital in creating the aura of beauty and grace around the queen, are now short and uncared for.

SANSA STARK
__________
Black, cosy and royal.
Sansa Stark has been through hell and back, but she’s now in a position of power and (relative) security. She seems different from the girl that fell in love with Joffrey: even her style has changed. Although many people have noticed how Sansa now styles her hair like Cersei used to, it’s not just her hairdo that has changed radically. Sansa, who used to wear bright colors and expensive fabrics, has now turned to severe dresses: now it’s almost impossible to distinguish between the heavy fur cloak and the gown. Quite a change, don’t you think?

DAENERYS TARGARYEN
__________
Black and white, with long sleeves and armour-looking details.
The dragon queen has, finally, put aside the candid white that has been her favorite color until the very beginning. Now it’s definitely black, the red of his House and grey for the Targaryen heir -with the exception of 7×06, where she wore an ice-coloured fur coat. Daenerys is preparing for war, and that much is showed clearly in dresses that have lost all their softness: sharp and heavy fabrics have taken over veils and sleeveless tunics.

MELISANDRE OF ASSHAI
__________
Purple-red, comfortable and modest.
The priestess, often nicknamed the Red Woman, sticks to her signature color: red. The dark atmosphere of the upcoming war and the cold that is slowly embracing Westeros has turned her beautiful dresses into simpler designs, often way more covered than how she likes them. The witch is supposed to travel a lot, so it’s no surprise that she turned to more loose fitting, cosy dresses.
