History has it that Kirsten Carriol, the founder behind the tiny and travel-sizes (but life-saving) balms, had to catch a plane when she had the great idea of creating the 100% natural brand that changed the relationship between wool and skincare forever. That long flight became her light bulb moment, and we couldn’t be happier it happened.
Kirsten is Australian, and she grew up in a farm where her father, a DNA scientist, taught her that lanolin, a particular wax that is found on the wool of ships to protect their coat and keep it dry, mimics human oils – making it the perfect waterproof and gentle moisturizer for all skin types. Having been treated with lanolin-based moisturizers as a child (most likely with balms produced in the family farm), Kirsten knew very well the many properties of lanolin and created Lanolips from passion, research, and personal experience.
