Ok. Ok. It’s true. This fall seems to dictate matte, the opaque finish, always.
But makeup is and must be pure fun and rules don’t actually exist.
And anyway, we can’t wait to break them.
But, above all, we don’t want to give up the super glossy and dewy look that has driven us crazy so far. Fall is the month that calls for intense colors, but it’s also the season in which our clothes become heavier and softer and the makeup can contrast everything with a skin, lips and glossy eyes, with hints of glitter and which remember us of that unique glow, a bit editorial but readjusted for every day look.
And that’s how we decided to create this look, with hydrating, luminous products that create a bit of that messy glossy effect that always has a certain appeal on us.
__________
THE SKIN LIGHT
__________
The skin preparation. Don’t forget how important it is, especially if you want to have a luminous skin, a good hydration, in order to obtain a perfect canvas from which to start. For this reason, we used the Intral Serum from Darphin Paris to get rid of any redness and we followed with the Vintner’s Daughter oil which, if you massage it well on the face, it gives a super hydrated and plumped skin effect. As for the eye contour, we used the Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream by Estée Lauder, which is moisturizing but also a good preparation for the concealer.
__________
A WONDER BASE
__________
Beauty Blur Skin Tone Optimiser by Vita Liberata
The base must be (obviously) light and shiny. Therefore, we chose to apply as the main product the base Beauty Blur Skin Tone Optimiser by Vita Liberata, a completely organic tint that we have used as the foundation. We like this product for some simple reasons: it’s light, it has a medium coverage and highlights the whole base, making the redness and pores really less noticeable. It acts just like a filter for your skin, reflecting the light in the right places. In addition, all the ingredients are natural and organic, it’s also an anti-aging product, it moisturizes the skin and it’s not toxic. In other words, it was love at first sight. Ah, and there is also a body version, the Body Blur.
__________
THE HERO DUO
__________
Highlighter Stick by Milk Makeup in Lit
Hollywood Filter by Charlotte Tilbury
Now it’s time to talk about the step that makes the skin brighter just and only where we want: the application of the highlighter. In this case, we opted for a hero duo. The Hollywood Filter highlighter/base by Charlotte Tilbury in the Light shade and the highlighter stick by Milk Makeup. They are a perfect combination. We used the Hollywood Filter on all the high points of the face, a bit like a primer, and then we applied the champagne highlighter, in Lit.
__________
THE ULTIMATE GLOSSY LID
__________
Glossier’s Haloscope Stick in Quartz
Gold Gloss Glitter by Estée Lauder for the Victoria Beckham collection
For the eyes, when it comes to the gloss, the messier it is, the better is. But if you have to wear it as the everyday look, we decided to make a mix of two products that we adore: the Glossier’s Haloscope stick in Quartz (but any tonality of this highlighter will be fine) which we applied on the whole eyelid, up to the eyebrows, to give a veil of diffused brightness.
Now comes the fun part: the gold gloss glitter by Estée Lauder for the Victoria Beckham collection. We adore this one, but there are a lot of similar products on the market, you just have to choose the one you like the most (MAC Cosmetics has lots of glosses). We applied it all over the eyelid, up to the eyebrows and then a little bit on the cheekbones as well. A very editorial but softened effect.
__________
GLASSY LIPS
__________
Darphin’s Petal Oil Infusion
Dazzle Glass by MAC Cosmetics
In this case, the main product was Darphin’s Petal Oil Infusion, a gloss with oils and flower petals which gives a unique effect to the lips: it moisturizes and makes them super shiny, like glass. Above, for a bit of glitter and color, we applied the MAC Cosmetics Dazzle Glass, especially at the center of the lips.
