The second season of “Ozark” is returning to Netflix on August 31st, so we can dive back in Missouri with the Byrdes!
In the new season, Cade Langmore becomes more important, and we discuss his role in our interview with the actor who plays him, Trevor Long!

The second season of “Ozark” is almost here. What can you unveil to us about it?
__________________
Well, it’s a known fact that Cade is out of prison in season two, so audiences will see a strong pull from Cade to keep his daughter’s loyalty to the Langmore name. She will be faced with the choice to side with her daddy or Marty Byrde.
Also, there will be politicians and politics around the new casino boat that is being built. That will bring a whole other dimension to the series that I feel is exciting. And of course, there will be lots of surprises.

So, finally, in this season we’ll see your character Cade out of prison. What evolution can we expect from him?
__________________
I can say Cade is determined to control his daughter Ruth, especially in any and all dealings with Marty Byrde. He clearly has a mission to maintain her loyalty and take care of Marty Byrde and obtain his wealth no matter what. I think we will definitely see some more colors with Cade. He can be quite surprising and yes, even loving toward Ruth. Should be fun to see.

Netflix has become one of the most powerful forces in serial and cinematographic production. What does it mean working for Netflix, today?
__________________
It means seeing really good, high quality shows. As for an actor, your work certainly will reach a very large audience, so lots of exposure.
Netflix seems to be king right now in television.

On August 25th at the FrightFest in London there will be the European premiere of your latest film, “Seeds,” directed by your brother, Owen Long.
How was this “family-run” production for you?
__________________
It was an incredibly rewarding experience, especially working with my brother, Owen, who directed it. We got to shoot on location at our family’s house on the water in Jamestown, Rhode Island. And of course, my nephew Garr, plays a supporting role and plays my nephew in the film as well. My sister in law, Younny, was a producer on “Seeds” too, so it was definitely a family affair.
We had lots of fun, but we all worked pretty dang hard, and trusting each other was already built into the package. The results, I feel, were successful.

Between the horror and thriller genres, which is your favorite to play?
__________________
I am new to horror. Even approaching it brought out fear. Although, I never really saw “Seeds” as a horror film. I went at it as I would any dramatic role; finding the truth of what made this character was my main focus. I never wanted to worry about being scary or creepy, but just to fully understand this man’s inner demons. The story would do its own work and bring out the necessary disturbance in its viewers.

What’s the last series you binge watched?

“Wild Wild Country” on Netflix. It was sublime. And “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
Julia Garner and Charlie Tahan introduced me to it while shooting “Ozark.” I couldn’t believe how genius and hysterical it was. They couldn’t believe I had never watched it before, and neither could I after having binged it. Larry David is pure genius. It was the perfect thing to watch while shooting “Ozark,” to relieve some of that darkness that was always lurking inside of me.

Do you have a character that you would love to play in the future?

A really dysfunctional dad on “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Did you ever experience an epic fail on the job?

I always feel like I’m an epic fail, but you would have to ask Jason Bateman that one.

What’s the last movie you watched and loved?

“Jaws.” I couldn’t believe how well it still stands up today. Robert Shaw’s performance is Oscar worthy, even in 2018. It was extra special because I watched it with my 9-year-old son, Ronan. He said he was finally ready to watch it and he loves sharks. He said he kind of liked “The Meg” better, but my vote is still “Jaws.”
