What makes the perfect Christmas Eve’s Dinner? The lights? The relatives or the perfect total-white, snowflake-like look? A warm, crackling fireplace or people being nicer to each other?
Why, the right make up, of course!
(No one was going to answer “pie”, right?)
Thing is: during the holiday season we end up needing a perfect mix of elegance, tradition, and simplicity -because no one wants to upset grandma- without ever forgetting our personal style.
So, how do we sport the perfect lipstick through dinner and, most importantly, how do we find the balance between who we are around the clock and Christmas’ spirit?
There are traditional cosmetics brands that, in their long history, saw an impressive series of Christmases passing by.
They felt many different winters, in good and bad times, in days when women felt makeup like a festive change from the usual austerity and when it was just another day with lipstick on.
One thing is sure, though: on Christmas Day, even the laziest of us can’t but look at herself in the mirror, pick up a pretty, red lipstick and put it on with a smile, knowing that’s there is a long day ahead.
For this makeup we went full on Clinique products. For us, Clinique was the perfect choice, a brand who suits every skin type with its young and fresh products. It can only do magic for your Christmas!
So what do we actually need on these messy, fast, gorgeous days of holidays and dinners and presents? Most certainly, a beauty look that promises to be easy and comfortable, but not dull.
The four secrets to rock it?
A natural glow for the base, a light touch of mauve on the cheeks, nude eyeshadow for the eye and a tiny treat, the crimson red of the new Pop Lip Shadow.
So, are you ready for a white (but not too much) Christmas?

#BASE
On moisturized skin, we applied the Even Better Glow foundation in Neutral with a buffing brush, to even the complexion. The featherlight liquid foundation has a velvety texture and an SPF 15. It’s enriched with an innovative light reflecting formula, hence it’s perfect for oily and overly-shiny skin.
The Airbrush Concealer, on the other hand, has two main effects: highlighting and concealing.
The product in Medium was applied with a small buffing brush under the eyes, on the nose bridge and on the cheekbones to highlight and give a healthy glow.
A little bit of product was used and blurred under the eyebrows, to add light and livelihood to the gaze.

#CHEEKS
To give a bit of color to the cheeks, we applied two different nuances of Clinique’s Blushing Blush on the apple of the cheek with the draping technique, smoothing and blending the powders with a soft brush.
On the cheeks we used the darker shade, adapting the subtle matte coral-ish of 107 Sunset Glow to the model’s skin, bringing the silky powder to the cheekbones.
Then a peachy shade of the Blushing Blush, 102 Innocent Peach, was applied from the higher part of the cheekbones up to the brow, following the face’s frame, reaching the temples.
Using a lighter shade on the higher part of the cheeks adds glow and definition to the face!

#EYES
For the eyebrows, we used the Superfine Liner for Brows in Soft Brown, drawing tiny lines and blending to fake a fuller and more defined eyebrow.
To achieve a mesmerizing gaze, we used two nuances of Lid Pop: single eyeshadows with a lively, customizable intensity and a silky finish.
At first, we applied Vanilla Pop, highlighting and with a pretty cream-colored shade, on the lid. Then it was created a subtle shadow on the external V of the eye, using a tiny blurring brush and Cocoa Pop, a rich brown.
Then, the upper lash line was defined with the Pretty Easy Liquid Eyeliner in brown, creating a tiny and natural cat eye.
To dramatize and framing the gaze, we used the High Impact Lash Elevating Mascara in Black. It enriched and elevated the lashes while keeping a natural effect.

#LIPS
For cherry-colored and full lips, we used Pop Lip Shadow in Crimson Pop, a new, amazing lipstick by Clinique.
The product, with an innovative bold and highly pigmented formula, is composed of a rich, matte powder and a tiny sponge applicator that takes the product directly from the packaging. It’s a long wearing, endless-dinners’ proof lipstick, that creates almost a plumping effect on the lips while maintaining an even and full coverage.
The classic, rich crimson nuance is flattering on every skin tone, confirming itself as a must-have on these occasions. Furthermore, we can’t but notice how it makes us think of Christmas, of mistletoe, of ribbons and berries.
Are you feeling the festive spirit, yet?
