Truman Capote drew inspiration from the contrast between purity and the dark side (often hidden within ourselves), between appearance and soul when referring to the swans, his sophisticated muses who, straight from the ’70s, return to the forefront of the scene with the FW24 by MSGM conceived by Massimo Giorgetti. A new society, with its specific dress code, is ready to walk the city streets.

Moodboard
The retro New York high aristocracy, rich in extravagance and glamour but also secrets and constraints, takes on new connotations—edgier, rebellious, and playful in the designer’s vision. Women break the rules as if they were glass and are free to wear oversized coats, mini dresses, waist-cinched blazers, unconventional uniforms, and oversized shapes. They are self-aware women who express their strength even through their clothing and have adapted the canons of audacity to their needs.

Our favorite looks
There’s nothing ordinary on the runway: tailored suits, sleeves adorned with zippers, toe-packed studs, satin fabrics, furry elements, patent leather eco-skin, oversized shapes, and outfits that blend duty with the desire to have fun. The palette ranges from black to yellow, passing through gray, white, beige, green, and pink. Floral prints and polka dots are inevitable. The desire to go beyond the norms is evident.

Details
Precious elements, yellow gloves, shoulder bags also carried by hand, hairy footwear, and Mary Jane plateau shoes, dark hints, oversized blazers, micro-waves, waist-cinched jackets, satin dresses, and glossed jackets that reflect light—everything is irreverent, as MSGM always is in every vision, even when applied to the Upper-Class of 1975 New York.

Beauty
The runway makeup, signed by Bobbi Brown with Hanna Murray as the lead makeup artist, aims to evoke the look of someone returning at dawn from an unforgettable evening. Luminous skin is hydrated with Vitamin Enriched Smoothing Serum and Face Base. A light layer of Skin Longwear Weightless Foundation and concealer creates a light base; cheeks and the center of the lips are slightly flushed using Pot Rouge in Velvet Plum. On the eyes, the smudged effect is achieved using the same product for lips and cheeks along with Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Heatersteel and Long-Wear Cream Liner Stick-Panther. To finish, a stroke of Smokey Eye Mascara. To frame it all, the hairstyles curated by Wella Professionals, where the hair has a semi-wet effect, with soft waves framing the face and creating movement.
