Amazement.
It comes from the Latin “stupor-oris,” and it expresses a strong feeling of wonder and surprise, almost able to take away the ability to speak and act.
It is the perfect word to describe the reactions of fashion lovers during the couture week, which is held twice a year in Paris. Even for the fall/winter 2019, the most prestigious fashion houses, which have set their shows from June 30th to July 4th, have not disappointed, surprising us with original and richly crafted creations.
And there were especially 6 collections that made our hearts beat fast…

SCHIAPARELLI
__________
A triumph of novelties characterizes the Schiaparelli runway: although the feminine shapes and drapes are the iconic ones of the Maison, the bright colors, the deep necklines and the details (such as embroidered stockings, impressive makeup, elaborate earrings and hats) are essentially modern. The collection represents a winning and fascinating combination between past and present, enchanting in its colorful variety of inspirations and emotions.

DUNDAS
__________
An extravaganza of prints and colors: this is what the Dundas show was all about, with its prevalence of tropical motifs, such as flowers, jungle elements and the animalier patterns, without forgetting polka dots, puffs, slits and monochrome suits. The variety of models is impressive, and it ranges from long, elegant dresses to suits to mini shapes to rock ones, without leaving behind that sensual and youthful soul typical of the brand. As the designer said, “The point is to never take yourself too seriously!” learning then how to play with fashion to give life to always new and never boring results.

IRIS VAN HERPEN
__________
The Iris van Herpen creations float in the air with extreme lightness, witnesses of limitless mastery and technical skill, that seems to try everything in order to overcome the laws of matter. The optical illusion is always present but never repetitive, in an unpredictable game of designs, patterns and shapes. The colors are those of the brand (white in the first place and then shades of red, gold and pink), the details in transparency too, but the clothes are all different, both when taking into consideration the ones present in this collection and when compared to the ones in previous shows, giving life to a real and enchanting show.

CHANEL
__________
There are books included in the set design, those that filled Karl Lagerfeld’s house, and then there are clothes on the runway, those of the tradition that Virginie Viard has reinterpreted in a dreamy key. The silhouettes and patterns remain the same, however, the bombed shapes of the jackets, the lengths and the wide color palette are different, as well as the variety of situations in which you can wear such creations: from a 1930’s themed party to a business appointment or an important gala, Chanel once again showed us how the past can adapt to the present, becoming also essential for the future.

VALENTINO
__________
Ode to the creativity of Valentino, to the genius of Pierpaolo Piccioli and to the skill of the Maison’s seamstresses, who at the end of the show went out together with the designer in a riot of applause. Valentino is once again one of the most anticipated fashion shows thanks to a simple concept: respect for diversity, inclusion and culture. It is no coincidence that on the runway there are many folkloric elements, that make the eye travel to distant destinations, while sensations and emotions invest us in a whirlwind of surprising combinations, extremely colorful and curated in the details, able to make us perceive the humanity behind clothes. Ode to Valentino, therefore, and to his innate ability to make us dream and fall in love every time more, every time with greater force.

FENDI
__________
It was founded on the Palatino Hill Rome and, in the same place, centuries later, Silvia Venturini Fendi presented the Haute Couture collection by Fendi: a location dreamed by Karl Lagerfeld, with the Colosseum in the background, where bold looks made their debut, designed for a cosmopolitan and committed woman, who fears no limits or the impossible. A ’70s twist characterizes the suits (even the most daring ones) and the reversible coats, while light fabrics and nuanced colors make the clothes ethereal, almost art-decò. Transparency, embroidery and fur insert complete a vision that pays homage to the legendary designer, the eternal city and the future of the famous Italian fashion house.
