“With imagination, someone can easily create a whole world out of nothing.”
This is what Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer said, and we could not agree more, also, and above all, in a world where reality seems to “suffocate” imagination, it is precisely the latter that saves us, giving us all the means to enhance our value and abilities, becoming the source of and means for change.
And it is precisely imagination that we can find at the basis of two equally important concepts: the concept of the dream, seen as a way to escape and as a world where everything is possible, and the concept of creativity, without limits or rules, but with a great sense of awareness, experimentation, and critical elaboration. These are the main concepts behind the REDValentino‘s new special project in collaboration with the famous Central Saint Martins in London, part of the University of the Arts (UAL).
The brand, which has always been interested in finding new talents with which give life to significant and unexpected synergies (without forgetting that tenacious and contemporary romanticism that distinguishes it), meets the students of the MA Fashion Image course of Central Saint Martins in a “challenge” that has as its goal to create authentic, dynamic and, above all, unique contents. A new generation of innovative image-makers and just one rule: there are no rules. REDValentino told students to interpret the Spring/Summer ’21 collection in a free and personal way; the result? Romanticism meets reality through unexpected and highly creative images, which express certain energetic ease between fluid lines, emphasized by soft and light fabrics, drapery, slits, and bows, while natural embroidery and prints emphasize this New Romanticism.
And it is no coincidence that we are talking about New Romanticism as if it was an artistic current: these young artists, through their art, have been able to combine the codes of the brand with their own vision, managing to surprise viewers thanks to exaggerated reworks, “unusual” locations and unexpected combinations. Aparna Aji, Bluebell Ross, Eomji Sim, Isabella Soliman, Kallan Hughes, Lowri Cooper, Martus Chai, Phoebe Wilkinson, Ruby Pluhar, and Yao Peng: these are the new talents of Central Saint Martins who, through the project in collaboration with REDValentino, have once again shown how fashion, besides being a means of expression, is also a starting point to create something exceptional and meaningful.
In other words, to make a dream come true.
Thanks to REDValentino.
