The Artist
Emma Day.
We loved the makeup that Emma did for Florence Pugh and Laura Dern, and she amazed us once again with a soft and romantic look on the occasion of the premiere of Disney’s “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” starring Keira Knightley and Mackenzie Foy.
Mackenzie plays Clara in this exciting retelling of the ballet classic, and Emma gave us the perfect picture of a makeup that’s both delicate and sophisticated.
What
Red Carpet Look for Mackenzie Foy
When
“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” premiere in London.
Inspiration
The beautiful Rodarte dress, matched with Mackenzie’s incredible ethereal beauty, age and the fact she was a Disney heroine meant that I wanted this makeup to look young, soft and dreamy with no hard lines and strong definition and yet somehow still modern – it’s what I would call a “painterly” look, like she just stepped out of an old painting.
I wanted her lips to look like she had been eating berries and they had got stained with color.
“…like she had been eating berries.”

The Skin
Mackenzie Foy Makeup
Mackenzie has very sensitive skin so I used CeraVe moisturizer which is brilliant as is fragrance free. I also used the Nars All Day Luminous Foundation in the shade Light One, dabbing it in with a beauty blender, and the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.
The Cheeks
Mackenzie Foy Makeup
I used the Angelika blush by Nars on the apples on Mackenzie’s cheeks with Dual intensity blush on top with the lighter shade as highlighter. I didn’t contour as I wanted to keep the look romantic, soft and fresh.
The Eyes
Mackenzie Foy Makeup
I wanted to keep the eye soft and pretty, so I used Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk palette with the Golden Goddess palette with a flash of metallic under the eye. Then, I used the Nars Erdem Multi-use highlighter pencil in the corner of the eye, which is a soft lilac shade that Mackenzie loved…
I used Glossier Lash stick for the mascara and wetted a fine brush to create a soft lash line with the dark brown shade in the Narssisist Loaded Palette for a little definition.
The Lips
Mackenzie Foy Makeup
The lips were done with the Nars Damned Lip pencil which a matte deep red stain: I wanted to keep the lips romantic and soft but also picking up the dark red shade in Mackenzie’s Rodarte dress. We scrubbed the lips with the lip scrub by Fresh and prepared them with lip balm before applying color.
Your Beauty Secret to Share:
If you want to keep your look romantic and fresh, keep the colors tonal with shades you would find naturally in your skin.
The best lip color is the one that mimics your natural lip shade but that somehow intensifies it.
Dap the color into the middle of your lips with your fingers and if your lips are dry use a Lip Scrub to make sure that they are not chapped and prep them with lip balm before applying color – using the same lip color on the apples of your cheeks can also be very pretty.
